Tranexamic Acid Injection B.P. is a medicine used to control or stop too much heavy bleeding. It works by blocking the breakdown of blood clots which makes it an antifibrinolytic agent. The structure of Fibrin which is a protein involved in the formation of blood clots is stabilised and preserved by this injection.
It should typically be used under the guidance of a doctor. It is mostly used for dental care in patients with a health problem called haemophilia, where control of bleeding is important.
This injection consists of tranexamic acid which acts as the active ingredient as it is the synthetic lysine amino acid derivative. It comes in different strengths and dosages such as 500mg/5ml and 1000mg/10ml.
These are the important instructions on how to use this injection
