PICOMENTIN SUSPENSION

Description

Description of Sodium Picosulfate with Milk of Magnesia & Liquid Paraffin Suspension – Picomentin Suspension is a laxative that is used to treat constipation caused by piles, anal fissure, hernia, cardiovascular disease, endoscopy, bowel clearance before radioscopy, pre/post-operative conditions, elderly, and bed-ridden patients. Constipation is defined as infrequent bowel movements with stools that are frequently dry, painful, and difficult to pass.

Picomentin Suspension is a combination of three medications: liquid paraffin (lubricant), milk of magnesia (hyperosmotic laxative), and sodium picosulphate (stimulant laxative). Liquid paraffin works by lubricating and softening the bowels. Milk of magnesia works by increasing the osmotic gradient in the gut and drawing water into the intestine, assisting with bowel evacuation. Sodium picosulphate promotes water accumulation by preventing water absorption in the colonic lumen and stimulating the colon’s propulsive activity. The combination of Liquid Paraffin + Milk of Magnesia + Sodium Picosulfate aids in constipation relief.
