Acebrophyllin Capsules

Acebrophylline is a mucolytic(cough/sputum thinner) and bronchodilator with anti-inflammatory action. Acebrophylline is a xanthine derivative and belongs to the class of drugs namely bronchodilators which opens the lung’s airways to help them breathe properly. Acebrophylline is usually recommended for a person suffering from bronchial asthma and COPD. COPD(Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) is defined as shortness of breath usually termed emphysema in medical terms. Acebrophylline being anti-inflammatory in action works by relaxing the muscles of the lungs to open airways and make mucus thin and loose, making it easier to breathe. Hard gelatin capsules are used in manufacturing.

USES OF ACEBROPHYLLINE 100MG CAPSULES

Acebrophylline has anti-inflammatory properties which helps to treat bronchial disorders of the lungs by widening the lung’s airways and making it easier to breathe. It is used to cure people suffering from emphysema(shortness of breath). Acebrophylline 100 mg capsules are prescribed to patients suffering from asthma and COPD which relaxes lung muscles and reduces the swelling in lungs.

CONTRADICTIONS FOR ACEBROPHYLLINE 100 MG-

Acebrophylline drug has some contradictions in its directions for use. Proper precautions are mandatory while consuming this drug. It might get interact with other drugs, food or diseases and can worsen the situation. Some precautions to be followed are-

• Not recommended while pregnancy
• Must be taken as prescribed by a physician
• Avoid consuming it with alcohol
• Avoid taking it during breastfeeding
• Do not take it while driving due to its drowsiness side effect
• Not prescribed if recently cured of heart attack
• Not recommended if the patient is allergic to drugs like theophylline, ambroxol, and similar drugs
• Not recommended if the patient has a kidney or liver disorder

• Skin rash
• Diarrhea
• Nausea
• Upset stomach

The primary action of acebrophylline is to treat bronchial asthma and COPD. Acebrophylline drug can cause interaction with other drugs and might worsen the situation. Some of the drug interactions are explicated below-

• Drug-drug interaction– Acebrophylline drug may interact with several drugs causing severe side effects. Some of these drugs are oral contraceptives, water pills, heart-related medicines, and also antibiotics like ciprofloxacin, erythromycin, amoxycillin, and doxycycline.
• Drug-food interaction– Acebrophylline if consumed with alcohol or coffee may interact and will cause drowsiness. Therefore, avoid consuming this with caffeine.
• Drug-disease interaction– One must inform the doctor about past medical history as this drug is avoided in various health-related issues like high blood pressure, heart disease, kidney disorder, ulcers, liver dysfunction, thyroid, and during pregnancy.
